A Tamaqua man with a New York address was arraigned on charges he violated a protection from abuse order.
Tamaqua police charged Francesco Pisaniello, 44, after a borough woman called police March 25, telling officers that he was trying to break into her Lafayette Street home.
Police arrived and spoke to the victim, who said Pisaniello was inside. Officers confirmed that she had an active PFA against him, and he was taken into custody.
Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer set Pisaniello’s bail at $10,000 unsecured. At the time, Pisaniello said he was living in Bronx, New York.
A Norristown woman faces drug charges after Tamaqua police stopped her vehicle at 12:48 a.m. March 27 because it did not have a registration plate.
Police alleged that while speaking to the driver, Christina Chapman, 27, they noticed an odor of marijuana inside her vehicle. Officers said Chapman began breathing heavily and her behavior became manic.
Officers asked if she was in possession of drugs, and she said she had a pipe. A subsequent search revealed 4.6 grams of marijuana and a pipe. The vehicle was towed.
She faces charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper display of registration plate and driving without insurance. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 10 before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua.
