W. Penn hears complaint over noise generated by Speed Shop

A West Penn Township resident has concerns over the noise that continues to be generated by a business near his property.

The resident told supervisors at last week’s meeting that he filed a complaint against the business on Golf Road.

He said the business, which he referred to as a Speed Shop, enhances loud cars and has been using the rear of his driveway to access Golf Road.

The resident said he filed a complaint, and that other property owners are willing to file a complaint as well if things don’t get rectified.

“These are foreign cars, loud, causing windows to vibrate,” he said. “The noise, it is ungodly.”

Board solicitor Paul J. Datte said the township’s zoning hearing officer would go out and inspect the operation.

The resident said he would greatly appreciate that.

“It’s to the point we can’t even sit in our living room,” he said. “It’s getting to be pretty hectic; it’s ridiculous.”

Board Chairman Tony Prudenti assured the township will take it to the next step.

In other business, supervisors waived the technical compliance with Land Development under the township’s Subdivision and Land Development Ordinances with two conditions:

• The use of the nonpermanent storage units use must be used in conjunction with the current auction business; otherwise the property owner will be required to do a Land Development Plan.

• Stormwater
