Weatherly Area School Board OKs 2022 school tax rules
At their regular voting meeting on March 9, the Weatherly Area School Board approved the school tax discount, base and penalty periods for 2022. The 2% discount period is July 15 through Sept. 15. School taxes from Sept. 16 to Nov. 17 will be at face value, then a penalty of 10% is added to the end of the year. For those who pay in installments, the first one-third payment is due by Aug. 15, then Oct. 17 and Dec. 15.
Vice Principal Christopher Kimmel spoke about a very successful Read Across America event held the first week of March.
He offered “Hats off to the staff,” noting great school spirit.
Spring sports numbers of players “look good.” The middle school track team’s coach was able to schedule five meets. New infield dirt mix needs to be ordered for the baseball and softball fields, to be applied as soon as possible.
The property committee will revisit the paving issues “as soon as the weather breaks.”
Approved 7-0 were requests from the Weatherly Little League to use the baseball fields from March to August.
Also approved was the Senior Class Trip to Six Flags and beaches in New Jersey.
The board approved list of volunteer coaches for softball of Amanda and Alexis Colecio, Corra Chincola and Kyle Michaels, as well as junior high softball coach volunteers Ryan and Sandra Binder.
Six properties in Golden Oaks were approved to be added back onto the tax rolls from the county repository.
The first reading of policies for Gifted Education, Notice of Parental Rights for Gifted Students (Permission to Evaluate), Gifted Written Report, Invitation to Participate in a Gifted Team Meeting and the Gifted Individualized Education Plan (GIEP) were approved. Other policies to be looked at are the due process complaint, and finances - purchased budgeted, purchases subject to bids/quotes, and an updated procurement procedure.
