Carbon opens bid for parking lot project

Carbon County opened bids for a multi-parking lot paving project that will take place this spring.

On Thursday, county controller Mark Sverchek opened the six bids through PennBid for the three projects, which include lots at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, the correctional facility, and portions of the county parking lot and D&L Trail in the lot.

Total bids came in between $876,386.32 and $1,071,281.46; but is then further broken down to each project.

Bidders include Graver Industries, doing business as Barker and Barker Paving; New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company; Lehigh Asphalt Paving and Construction; Don E. Bower Inc.; H&K Group Inc.; and Hanson Aggregates PA LLC.

The bids were tabled for approximately two weeks to allow the county time to review the bids.

Carbon County will use money from the parking lot fund to cover the paving projects.

In other bidding matters, the county also opened bids for three Community Development Block Grant projects.

Three bids were received for the Beaver Meadows Penrose Street improvement projects. Bids ranged between $35,265 and $53,040.68.

Five bids were opened for the Franklin Township Red Hill Road culvert replacement project. Bids ranged from $129,733.06 to $268,726.50.

Five bids were also received for the Nesquehoning project for street improvements along Diaz Avenue between Angelini Avenue and Messina Street. Bids ranged from $67,163 to $111,530.

Bids were tabled for two weeks so they can be reviewed.
