In an announcement that surprised borough officials, Slatington Borough’s manager has announced he will resign from his position tomorrow.

John Kasten said he will leave the post, but he refused to give further details, other than a statement issued to borough council.

In it, he said, “I appreciate the opportunity given me to serve the community. The administrative employees, public works employees and police all do a great job, and the community is well-served by their hard work and dedication. I always did the best I could and performed to the best of my abilities.”

Kasten served the community since November 2000.
