Jim Thorpe teen gets probation on drug-dealing charge

A Jim Thorpe teen was placed on probation on Monday in Carbon County court after pleading guilty to a drug-dealing charge.

Sean Andrew Strayer, 19, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - marijuana, a felony. He was arrested on June 8, 2021, when state police at Fern Ridge responded to a welfare check request at a residence along Yellow Run Road in Penn Forest Township. On scene officers found Strayer and another person. The troopers also smelled marijuana on Strayer and coming from the home. A consent search was conducted and marijuana and a large amount of U.S. currency were found in the defendant’s bedroom.

It was noted Strayer has a prior conviction for possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Serfass placed him on probation for 36 months and ordered he render 150 hours of community service, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, pay court costs of over $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
