Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. The Zion men’s group will meet at Memorial Hall on March 26 at 8 a.m.

Card shower

A Birthday card shower is being held for Margey Edwards, formerly of Tamaqua, who will celebrate her 85th birthday on March 26. She and her husband, George, owned and operated Edward’s Flowers for many years. Margey is currently a guest at Providence Place: Apt. 211, 149 S. Hunter Highway, Drums, PA 18222.

St. Peter’s

March 20: 9 a.m. worship service; 10:15 a.m. Sunday school; 4 p.m. Confirmation Class; 6 p.m. Girl Scouts. March 21: 7 p.m. play practice. March 22: 6 p.m. Bible study. March 23: 7 p.m. Midweek Lenten Service at St. Peter’s. March 24: 6 p.m. Cherub Choir rehearsal; 7:30 p.m. Senior Choir rehearsal.

March 27: 9 a.m. worship service; 10:15 a.m. Sunday school; 10:30 a.m. board meeting; 4 p.m. Confirmation Class; 6 p.m. Girl Scouts; filling orders due.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening praise at 6:30 p.m.

March 23 Lenten service at Frieden’s Lutheran Church, New Ringgold with 7:15 p.m. hymn sing and 7:30 p.m. service.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on March 10 with 31 members in attendance. The meeting was opened with the reading “God Made This Day.”

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Lenten dinner

Area residents are invited to a March 30 Lenten dinner hosted by Tamaqua Zion Lutheran’s Culinary Team from 4 to 6 p.m.

Diners may eat in or request takeout. The meal features baked haddock or chicken fingers, mac and cheese, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw and dessert.

Dinners may be preordered at www.ziontamaqua.com or by calling 570-668-4451. Preorders accepted until March 23. Walk-ins welcome.

American Primitive

Sunday worship service is at 10:30 a.m. at American Primitive Methodist Church. The service is available at www.tamaquachurch.org and www.facebook.com/PMChurchTamaqua. There will be no Sunday school until further notice. Hope in the Mountains Nar-Anon Family Group meets at 57 Hunter St.
