Fire contained in Summit Hill home
Fast response by firefighters Friday morning contained a fire to a third-floor bedroom of a Summit Hill residence.
The fire occurred at about 8:30 a.m. at 112 E. Amidon St. When first responders arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was belching from the front, third floor attic window.
Summit Hill Chief of Police Todd Woodward was the first emergency responder and said he made sure both sides of the double-home were evacuated. Woodward said two adults and a minor were inside the home where the fire happened.
Firefighters said the fire was contained to the bedroom and didn’t encroach on the adjoining side of the structure.
Responding were volunteers from Summit Hill, Lansford and Coaldale Fire Departments.
Summit Hill Fire Chief Shawn Hoben was the officer in charge.
Woodward said one woman in the residence coughed and likely inhaled smoke. She was treated at the scene by Lehighton Ambulance personnel.
Fire police from Summit Hill and Lansford provided traffic control.
