Tamaqua driver in 3-vehicle crash

A Tamaqua driver was involved in a three-vehicle crash at 12:07 p.m. on March 9 along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Gina M. Callavini, 43, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2018 Toyota Rav4 southbound in the left lane attempting to pass a 2020 Peterbilt tractor with trailer operated by Schuyler J. Eady, 40, of Hampton, Virginia, who was in the right lane. Troopers noted the road had heavy snow and slushy ice on it at the time.

The Rav4 slid on a patch of ice in the left lane, traveled across both lanes striking the tractor trailer in the middle of the undercarriage of the trailer. The Rav4 did an 180-degree turn and came back across both lanes of travel and struck a 2017 Subaru Forester, driven by Michael J. Nairn, 66, of New Ringgold, head-on. The Rav4 then hit a concrete median separating the north and southbound lanes, coming to rest fully blocking the left lane southbound.

No one was injured. The Rav4 was towed.
