A Monroe County man was jailed on Monday following a standoff with police that stemmed from a domestic incident.
Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the suspect as Philip Digenova, 36, of Tobyhanna.
According to police at 1 a.m. officers were dispatched to a residence along Blackbirch Way in Tobyhanna, for a domestic dispute involving a gun.
Officers spoke with a woman who said her 1-year-old child’s father, Digenova, had assaulted her while at her home. She said Digenova began to argue with her over child custody issues. While the victim was holding the child, Digenova pushed her to the ground and put a pillow over her face and sat on it, the victim said.
The woman retreated to the bathroom and Digenova followed and took a gun out of her purse. According to the victim Digenova said multiple times that he was gong to kill her.
The victim was able to escape through a bathroom window with the child.
Police attempted to contact with Digenova at the residence but he refused to open the door. Police had to force entry to the home and Digenova engaged in a standoff with officers for an extended period of time.
He was charged with felony 3 endangering the welfare of a child; and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, simple assault, resisting arrest, obstructing administration of law or other government function, recklessly endangering another person and a summary offense of harassment.
He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Snydersville, unable to post $75,000 straight cash bail.
