An Effort man has been charged with assault after an argument in Chestnuthill Township.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police Fern Ridge barracks:

At 1:46 p.m. Oct. 11, Elijah Mattaur, 24, was at a residence in the 100 block of Idlewood Drive when he asked the homeowner to call and have a friends come over to the house so he could talk with him.

When the victim arrived at the residence, he and Mattaur went outside alone, and an argument started.

Police said Mattaur punched the victim in the face, breaking his nose, knocking out a front tooth and chipping two others. He placed the victim in a choke hold.

Mattaur faces charges of aggravated assault; simple assault; harassment; disorderly conduct and strangulation. He is currently free on bail and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing March 25 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
