Bowmanstown residents complain about speeding, condition of roads

Speeding and road conditions remain at the forefront of concerns voiced by Bowmanstown residents.

Kristen Koch of Lime Street complained about speeding at last week’s borough council meeting.

“The road is ripped up,” Koch said. “Somebody is going to get run over.”

Mayor Zach Snyder noted that staffing with state police is limited.

Council President Pam Leiby said council will look into getting the speed limit at Lime.

Cindy Zmarzley of Oak Street said there are constantly people speeding.

“They just fly through there. It’s dangerous,” Zmarzley said. “There’s traffic on the street all hours of the night; it’s a nuisance.”

Road complaints

Just as speeding was on the mind of several residents, so, too, is the condition of roads in Meadowcrest.

Sharon Krebs said that while she understands time and manpower are hard to come by, the situation can’t be ignored.

“We’re just asking for you not to forget about us,” Krebs said.

Resident Phyllis Kreiss said she believes Mill Street and Meadowcrest should be put on the list of roads to be fixed.

Leiby said that while she understood their concerns, there’s only so much funding to go around.

“We only have so much money to fix things,” she said.

Snyder echoed Leiby’s thoughts.

“There is not a lot of money to go around,” he said. “We are doing our best (to address the issue), but we can’t do it all at one shot.”
