Weissport police chief resigns, taking job close to home

Weissport’s Chief of Police, Matthew Williams, submitted his resignation effective March 20 to take a part-time police position in Beaver Meadows, which is closer to his home.

Mayor Paulette Watson read Williams’ letter of resignation to the borough council. In it, he acknowledged the friendships he made, expressing his gratitude for being entrusted with protecting Weissport.

“Please know that I will cherish my time serving the citizens of Weissport Borough these past almost three years,” Williams wrote.

Weissport Borough will begin immediately accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police. Candidates must have their Act 120 certification and meet all necessary background checks. The borough’s Police and Safety Committee will handle the interviews. Anyone who would like to apply should contact Weissport Borough at 610-377-5606.
