Monroe County woman sent to state prison on drug count

A Monroe County woman was sentenced to a state prison term on Friday in Carbon County court after previously pleading guilty to a drug-related count.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II, sentenced Lynde Elizabeth Kuntz, 23, of East Stroudsburg, to serve one to three years in a state correctional institution on a charge of criminal conspiracy - contraband into the prison, a felony 2.

She was arrested on June 27, 2020, by county detectives following an incident at the prison. She was involved in bringing methamphetamine into the prison.

Kuntz admitted to a drug addiction problem that led to prior arrests and convictions. She was on probation when she committed the instant charge and was in jail on a probation violation charge.

She told the court, “I take full responsibility for my past.” She went on to make a rambling statement concerning her drug use, family and other run-ins with law enforcement. She said she didn’t bring the drugs into the prison but was given some from another inmate. She also said that she feels she’ll get the help she needs for her drug addiction in the state system drug program.

She was also ordered to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample and pay court costs of over $1,000.

She began the jail term immediately.
