Bowmanstown Borough Council
Bowmanstown Borough Council on a 5-0 vote took the following action last Tuesday:
• Amended an ordinance, adding new definitions, prohibiting parking on certain streets within the borough, adding provisions for the immobilization of vehicles, and providing penalties for violations. Parking will be prohibited on both sides of Craig Street for its entire length; parking will be prohibited at certain locations as posted by Public Works from time to time; and parking will be prohibited along streets designated for special events approved by council from time to time.
• Agreed to reapply for 2022 Community Development Block Grant funding for Lincoln Avenue from Route 895 about 600 feet.
• Agreed to have the Bowmanstown Water Authority apply for block grant funding for the generator.
• Tabled the 2022 Bowmanstown Bike Night street closing.
• Agreed, on a 4-1 vote, with Councilman Rob Moyer opposed, to have the borough’s attorney send Seven Development a letter because it owes the borough $106.
• Agreed to purchase two wheel boots at a cost not to exceed $300, though it may spend more if it’s American made instead of from another country.
• Announced that Lehigh Asphalt anticipates restarting work on the Craig Street project later this month, and that the engineer will notify the office before work resumes on site. The Water Authority engineer agreed to proposed insulation and rolled bituminous curb; Lehigh Asphalt was notified of the requested changes to the contract items and will prepare the changer order documentation.
• Tabled a request for 601 Fireline Road. The fire house is requesting a reprieve on its garbage bill for six months.
• Agreed to send a letter to residents for tree trimming.
• Approved a 50-cent per hour raise for Public Works employee Jason Sitarchyk, as well as to receive health care benefits.
• Adopted a resolution authorizing the sale of the borough’s 1977 Ford tractor.
• Agreed to purchase three compost signs at an amount not to exceed $300.
• Agreed to purchase 5 gallons of white paint and 5 gallons of yellow paint.
• Agreed to purchase a load of salt.
