State police report on Monroe County crashes

Area state police reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:

Fern Ridge

• A crash was reported at 4:14 p.m. on Feb. 14 along Route 115 at Evergreen Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Matthew E. Demund, 43, of Saylorsburg, operating a 2020 Toyota Tacoma truck, was stopped in the southbound lane near the intersection for a school bus that was turning left. His vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2008 Ford Explorer driven by Trevor A. Lugo, 21, of Stroudsburg. Troopers said Lugo was not paying attention to traffic.

No one was injured. The Ford was towed.

Lugo was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• Troopers reported a crash along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County, at 3:08 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Troopers identified the drivers involved as Manoucheka Simon, 49, of East Stroudsburg, and Patricia L. Smarr, 70, of Frackville. Troopers gave no other details of the crash. The police report indicated that Simon and passenger, Jasmine T. Brun, 22, of East Stroudsburg, and Smarr and passenger, Chelsea L. Smarr, 32, also of Frackville, suffered injuries.

State police at Stroudsburg

• A Carbon County driver was involved in a crash in Monroe County on Feb. 21 at 1:01 p.m.

State police at Stroudsburg said Dawn M. Ronco, 46, of Nesquehoning, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet in the right lane of Interstate 80 in Pocono Township behind a 2020 Subaru Outback driven by Jacobs Macintosh, 24, of Darien, Connecticut, while eastbound. Troopers said Macintosh slowed down due to traffic and his vehicle was struck in the rear by Ronco’s vehicle.

No one was injured. The Chevrolet was towed.

State police at Lehighton

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 8:19 p.m. on Feb. 11 along Lower Smith Gap Road in Eldred Township.

Troopers said Kelly C. Kinker, 24, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado truck eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She applied the brakes on the truck turned to the right. The truck went onto the berm and struck a tree.

Kinker was not injured.
