Fire alarm triggers response at Family Promise building

Nesquehoning fire companies responded to a fire call at the Carbon County Family Promise on Sunday after a fire alarm went off.

Crews from the three fire departments, as well as Jim Thorpe, Lansford, Weatherly and the Lehighton Ambulance were called to 140 W. Mill St., for a structure fire, just after 6 p.m.

Nesquehoning Hose Company fire chief John McArdle said that when crews arrived they learned that it was an automatic fire alarm from a new alarm system that had a malfunctioning issue.

The fire companies investigated the building, but found nothing.

Crews were then called back to the same location at 6:42 this morning for the same issue.

McArdle said he has been told the alarm system will be fixed.
