Applications are available at the local county assistance office as well.

Garden awakens

The Garden of Giving, located on Rising Hill Road, McMichaels, has announced that this year the growing efforts will be concentrated on the Senior Area, with its brand-new, waist-high raised beds, along with the Youth Education Center.

As such, youth groups are urged to contact the garden to volunteer, as well as Girl and Boy Scouts. Church groups are welcome also.

In addition, there is a need for three new board members and a helper to assist with office duties once a week for three hours would be great as well as drivers.

Also needed are volunteers to open the garden and clean up after the winter.

The first day will be April 9.

With the following week being Easter weekend, activities will not resume until April 23 and continue through June 11.

Normal garden hours will resume on June 14, when working hours will return to the normal Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday schedule.

The garden’s office is open part-time.

It is located in the ReMax building on Route 155 in Effort.

Call 570-402-1282 or email gardenofgiving1@gmail.com for more information or to volunteer. The garden also has a Facebook page, and a website at www.TheGardenOfGiving.org.
