Basket bonanza

St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 9 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, will host its annual theme basket and wine raffle over a four-day period at the end of the month.

Doors will open for browsing and ticket purchases from 5-7 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 25; as well as 10 a.m. on Feb. 26. The drawing then begins at 2 p.m.

Due to the pandemic, the church has changed the format of the event. Patrons are asked to practice social distancing while in the hall. Masks are optional but appreciated. There will be no seating available in the hall.

The drawing will be a closed-door drawing and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page.

Winners will be contacted by phone.

Frozen foods will be available for take out on a first-come, first-served basis on any of the days the event is open.

Lenten fish dinner

The Shrine of St. Therese, Madonna Hall, 1 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning, will hold a pre-order, takeout Lenten fish dinner from 3-6 p.m. on March 4.

The dinner includes breaded fish, mac and cheese, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw and string beans. The cost is $12 for adults, and $6 for children 12 and under.

Dinners must be ordered by March 1.

All proceeds from the dinner benefit the shrine.
