Carmine Cassino, 67, of Effort, is facing theft/shoplifting charges after he was caught stealing rock salt and windshield washer from The Uni Mart Exxon service station, 37 Weir Lake Road, Chestnuthill Township, Brodheadsville.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said the theft occurred between 8:46 p.m. Jan. 15 and 10:33 p.m. Jan. 30 when Cassino stole 46 50-pound bags of Safe Step rock salt and two bottles of windshield washer by using a 2007 Volvo.

The rock salt is valued at $689.54 and the washer fluid is valued at $7.98, police said.
