State police report on area DUI cases

State police at Lehighton report on suspected driving under the influence cases:

• Troopers said at 2:31 a.m. Thursday they were dispatched to South Fireline Road in Parryville, for a report of a one-vehicle crash involving a 2003 Ford F150 pickup. Police said the truck was driven westbound when the driver lost control, traveled off the right side of the road. The truck then overturned on to its driver’s side trapping the driver inside.

The driver suffered injuries to his left arm and hand and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, Franklin Township.

The driver, a 69-year-old man from Palmerton, who troopers declined to identify, was suspected for DUI of alcohol. The investigation is continuing. The truck had to be towed.

• Troopers stopped a 2001 Nissan Altima along Lehigh Drive in East Penn Township, Carbon County, at 3:22 a.m. on Saturday for a vehicle code violation.

The driver was suspected of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Troopers added that the driver and passenger were found to be in possession of suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending test results.

Troopers did not identify the suspects except to note both are males from Palmerton.

Monroe cases

State police at Stroudsburg report on the following cases:

• Kirsten M. Murphy, 29, of Dunmore, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 12:48 a.m. Feb. 13 on Interstate 80 in Pocono Township.

She was driving a 2014 Honda Civic eastbound when she failed to negotiate a right curve in the road. The car traveled off the left side of the roadway and hit a ditch adjacent to the left shoulder, then a road sign before continuing east for about 50 feet before coming to rest. She was not injured.

• A traffic stop made by state police at 9:14 p.m. Feb. 10 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township resulted in the driver facing charges for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said the 45-year-old Brodheadsville man was driving a 2020 Acura when he was stopped, after which time police determined he was under the influence, took him into custody and transported him to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville.

Lehigh Valley

Thomas A. Kramer, 56, of Gilbertsville, was charged by state police at the Fogelsville barracks for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 1:46 a.m. Feb. 12 on Route 309 in Lynn Township.

Police said he was driving a 2011 Ford Escape southbound and was traveling too fast for conditions when he failed to keep the vehicle in its lane of traffic. It struck the concrete median divider, stop and yield signs and then an embankment before coming to final rest.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Kramer was not hurt, police said.

• A Slatington driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol following an incident on Feb. 13.

State police at Fogelsville conducted a traffic stop of a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E320 at 2:11 a.m. along Route 100 at Hausman Circle, in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County, for numerous traffic violations. The driver was identified as Argon Mujovic, 26. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and admitted to consuming alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for DUI.

• A Monroe County driver is facing a driving under the influence charge in Lehigh County.

State police at Bethlehem said at 9:21 p.m. on Jan. 29 troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at US 22 and Airport Road in Hanover Township. One of the driver’s involved, Alec Herman, 23, of Kunkletown, was found to be DUI.

Schuylkill County

• State police at Schuylkill Haven said they investigated a crash on Feb. 6 at 1:38 a.m. at the intersection of Meadow Driver at South Greenview Road, in North Manheim Township, involving a 2018 Toyota Camry. Troopers said Aaron M. Cook, 30, of Schuylkill Haven, was northbound on South Greenview Road and attempting to negotiate a left curve when his vehicle left the road and struck guide rail causing disabling damages. Cook was not injured.

Cook showed signs of impairment. DUI charge is pending test results. The vehicle had to be towed.
