Man charged with break-in, drunkenness

An underage New Jersey man has been charged with breaking into a house after consuming alcohol.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by the Pennsylvania State Police - Frackville barracks in the case against Jared Russo:

At 6:59 p.m. Saturday, police responded to Park Drive in Rush Township for a report of an intoxicated man, Russo, 20, of Vineland, New Jersey, who broke into a house and was discovered by his family members.

Russo’s uncle told police that he, Russo and other people were ice fishing.

He said they had all been drinking alcoholic beverages earlier, and that they were cleaning up and noticed that Russo was not around.

They went to look for Russo and found a broken windowpane to the front door and shattered glass on the ground.

Russo, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, was inside the residence. He admitted to consuming an alcoholic beverage earlier in the day, and that he did not remember breaking into the house.

Russo faces charges of criminal trespass; loitering and prowling at night time; criminal mischief; public drunkenness and similar misconduct; and purchase, etc. alcohol beverage by a minor.

He is currently free in lieu of $50,000 unsecured bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing March 22 before District Judge Stephen J. Bayer of Tamaqua.
