Walnutport will apply for a one-time statewide Local Share Assessment grant.

Borough council on Thursday unanimously approved a resolution to submit the statewide LSA grant.

Borough grant coordinator Michael Wentz said it was leftover COVID-19 relief funds.

Wentz said the money can be used for construction/infrastructure, and vehicle/machinery/equipment.

He said it was part of a one-time LSA grant, but that he needed to know by March 10, “so we need to move fast.”

Wentz said if the borough were to receive funds from the grant, he said the borough would use it to update any existing equipment and vehicles, as well as put in to do street work on Willow Avenue, Third Avenue and Carbon Street.
