Lehighton approves engineering costs for blighted property

Lehighton has moved closer toward the final stages of a blight project.

Borough council recently approved Keystone Consulting Engineer’s invoice in the amount of $633 for the Blight Remediation Grant.

Borough Manager Nicole Beckett told council this is procedural since Jim Thorpe is administering the multimunicipal grant.

Council then approved the completion of the services at 209 N. First St., along with an additional engineering allocation of $8,000 for the final stages of the project.

Beckett said the additional match was also approved toward the grant and project costs.

“Engineering costs had been increased due to surveys required for the construction easements needed for the project,” Beckett said.
