Council reviews request for change orders caused by artesian well and storm pipe culverts

Lehighton continues to mull a request from the borough’s Water Authority following a water main replacement project.

Borough Manager Nicole Beckett discussed the request from the Lehighton Water Authority concerning reimbursements for the recent water main replacement project.

Beckett said the Water Authority’s request was for reimbursements for change orders in the amount of $17,129 caused by the South Street artesian well and storm pipe culverts.

She said there were issues unknown, underground, that resulted in the change orders, after an artesian well at South and Second streets had created additional work along with unknown storm pipe culverts.

Council noted that this year’s budget was already complete, and these items were not included since it did not have any numbers.

Beckett said she planned to schedule a meeting with the Water Authority to discuss the change orders and payment.
