Tamaqua man charged with selling pain pills

A Tamaqua man has been charged with selling opioid pain medicine.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officers Thomas Rodgers and Anthony Stanell of the Tamaqua Police Department in the case against Ronald Dries:

At 5:09 p.m. Sept. 23, police met with a confidential informant about buying morphine pills from Dries, 39.

The informant agreed to meet Dries in the area of the Hometown Fire Company and sell eight morphine pills for $120.

The informant went to the Hometown Fire Company when Dries arrived in a tan KIA, an exchange is made, and Dries drives away.

Police videotaped the exchange.

The pills were marked RP 20, which indicate they are Oxycodone Hydrochloride, a Schedule 2 controlled substance.

Dries faces charges on two counts of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, and one count each of possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of communication facility.

He was taken to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $50,000, 10% monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Feb. 15 before District Judge Stephen J. Bayer of Tamaqua.
