Carbon County court — ARD
Four people facing criminal charges were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program by Judge Joseph J. Matika:
Deanna Marie Simonson, 40, of Saylorsburg, was placed for 18 months on felony charge of burglary and related counts. She was arrested on Sept. 8, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for entering a property along Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township and taking food.
She was assessed $650 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 75 hours of community service.
Austin Michael Bellemare, 24, of Kunkletown, was placed for 18 months on a felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He was arrested on June 22, 2021, by Kidder Township police along Route 534 in Albrightsville following a traffic stop.
He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 75 hours of community.
Matthew Velazquez, 26, of Philadelphia, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on July 31, 2021, by state police at Lehighton along Pohopoco Drive in Lower Towamensing Township following a vehicle stop.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Bethanne M. Whiting, 49, of Palmerton, was placed for a year on a charge of defraud secured creditors. He was arrested by Palmerton police on Nov. 10, 2021, for failure to pay bills for borough services.
She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and make restitution to the borough of Palmerton for $1,218.98.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, the record will be wiped clean. If they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program. Each defendant must pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
