Supervisors to hold special meeting on garbage disposal issues on private road

A special meeting to discuss garbage disposal issues will take place next month in Towamensing Township.

Supervisors on Thursday announced a special meeting will be held at 7 p.m. March 8 for the people who live on Kennetta Lane. Last month, supervisors discussed the matter involving garbage disposal on Kennetta Lane, a private road owned by Kenneth George.

Supervisor/roadmaster Scott Mosier noted at the board’s end-of-year meeting in December that aside from road conditions and brush, the road’s steepness was causing garbage trucks to bottom out during garbage collection.

Board members discussed the possibility of implementing a dumpster to reduce difficulties with the garbage trucks.

Mosier noted at that time the possibility of constructing a cul-de-sac to help the garbage trucks turn around easier. However, Chairman Guy Seifert noted legal concerns surrounding the idea.

Instead, Seifert at that time suggested holding a series of workshops to work out a solution with residents.

The board at that time decided to have township solicitor Tom Nanovic write a letter organizing these workshops.
