Seventeen businesses that applied for COVID-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Money in Schuylkill County but didn’t get it now will.
Commissioners voted to use $460,000 of American Rescue Plan funds to allocate toward the effort.
In all, $425,000 will go toward funding the remaining applicants. Six others will receive additional funding that did not receive the $25,000, the maximum amount given. The Northeast Pennsylvania Alliance will receive $10,000 for administrative costs.
Hetherington said applications came in but “the money was all gone.”
The county received a $1,601,084 block grant from the state. The program opened March 5, 2021.
“In my mind, it was a great program,” Hetherington said.
At least 65 applicants received funding. Eligible businesses were in the hospitality industry. Requirements must have been met to get funding.
