State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes investigated by troopers in Carbon County.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 12:23 a.m. on Saturday along Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township. Troopers said Crystal M. Wetzel, 44, of Northampton, was driving a 2008 Mazda 3 northbound in the left lane and negotiating a left-hand turn. The vehicle was going too fast for conditions, causing Wetzel to lose control while traveling over standing slush.
The vehicle rotated clockwise and struck a concrete divider on the left side of the road. This caused the vehicle to careen across both northbound lanes causing it to strike a concrete barrier on the right side of the road. The vehicle then rotated clockwise and came to rest in the left lane facing east.
Wetzel sustained a suspected minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.
She was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 5:52 p.m. on Feb. 4 along Hemlock Street in Towamensing Township. Troopers noted that road conditions were extremely icy and there was slight sleet/freezing rain.
Troopers said Joshua M. Esterline, 22, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2007 Honda CRV and attempting to maneuver a right hand curve when he lost control while driving over a patch of ice. His vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck a 2011 Kia Sorento operated by Andrew M. Marky, 38, of Lehighton.
Esterline and his passenger, Victoria E. Hetrick, 20, of Lehighton, and Marky, were all not injured.
