Mahoning Township plans to look to a neighboring community as it considers a fireworks ordinance.
As part of an ordinance workshop on Wednesday, the board said it would review Summit Hill’s fireworks ordinance.
Board Chairman Robert Slaw noted that the board of supervisors tried to get the matter passed last year.
However, Supervisor Deborah McGowan said she wasn’t comfortable adopting a fireworks ordinance at that time.
McGowan said that in her opinion, if there were no fireworks, it would eliminate the issue entirely.
“It’s very confusing,” she said. “To me, it should be no fireworks.”
Slaw said he believes fireworks should be regulated, but was against banning it completely.
