State police at Lehighton - DUI

State police at Lehighton reported on two driving under the influence arrests made by troopers.

Police declined to identify the suspects.

• On Jan. 9 at 9:34 p.m. troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash involving a 1995 Toyota van container trailer in the 800 block of Kunkletown Road in Eldred Township, Monroe County. On scene it was determined that the driver, a 39-year-old woman from Saylorsburg, was under the influence and taken into custody and transported for a chemical test. Charges are pending the test results.

• On Jan. 7 at 6:17 p.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer at Union Hill Road at Fairview Street in Franklin Township, Carbon County. At the scene the driver, a 30-year-old man from Lansford gave a false name initially, but a further investigation yielded the name and of a front seat passenger. Both had numerous outstanding warrants. The driver was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Both were transported to the county prison in Nesquehoning on the warrants. Police said charges will be filed.
