Monroe Co. man wanted for ramming police cruisers

State police are looking for a Monroe County man they say rammed police cruisers and fled during an attempted arrest.

Troopers fired shots at a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Tyler Deihl as he fled on Lower Middle Creek Road in Polk Township, shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday.

According to state police, troopers were attempting to arrest Deihl on unspecified felony charges. They said Deihl used his vehicle to strike multiple police cruisers. Multiple troopers then fired at Deihl’s vehicle.

Deihl escaped. Police later found the vehicle abandoned at an undisclosed location. They said there was no evidence that Deihl was injured.

No troopers were injured in the incident.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and state police are jointly investigating the troopers’ use of deadly force.

Deihl was scheduled to appear in district court in Monroe County earlier in the day on Thursday for a hearing on drug possession charges dating to last March. He also was facing a bench warrant in Lehigh County for missing a hearing on drug possession charges dating to December 2020.

Deihl previously served jail time after pleading guilty to fleeing from police in a case dating to 2018. He was released in February 2020.

Troopers have asked anyone with information on Deihl’s whereabouts to immediately contact state police at Lehighton at 610-681-1850, or call 911.

Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers says anyone who submits a tip on Deihl’s whereabouts could be eligible for a cash reward. The organization can be contacted at 1800-4PA-TIPS (8477) or https://www.p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=107.
