Dog licenses on sale for 2022

Dog licenses for 2022 are on sale through the Schuylkill County Treasurer’s office.

Dog license applications may be mailed to the Schuylkill County Treasurer, 401 N. Second St. Pottsville, PA 17901 or bought online at www.padoglicense.com.

A $2 fee applies per dog. Those with a P.O. Box must include their street address.

State law requires all dogs 3 months or older be licensed by Jan. 1, 2022.

The fee is $8.50 for an annual license and $6.50 if the dog is spayed or neutered.

Senior citizens older than 65 and people with disabilities are eligible for reduced rates, $6.50 for an annual license and $4.50 if the dog is spayed or neutered.

Lifetime licenses are available if dogs are microchipped. A permanent identification verification form must be completed by a veterinarian along with the application.

The form is valid for 30 days after signature. Lifetime license fee is $51.50 or $31.50 if the dog is spayed or neutered.

Age 65 and older and disabled people are eligible for a discount rate of $31.50 or $21.50 if the dog is spayed or neutered.

Authorities and shelters use the owner’s contact information to return dogs.

A maximum fine of $300 is possible for each unlicensed dog.
