Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their weekly meeting last Thursday.
• Approved an agreement with Advanced Data Corporation of Evergreen, Colorado, to provide background checks as required by the SHARE Housing Program through the Area Agency on Aging at a cost of $36 per report. The cost is reimbursed by the SHARE Housing grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
• Approved a statewide interconnectivity grant in the amount of $144,105.50 from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency on five 911 communications systems projects.
• Approved an addendum to the renewal agreement with Telosoft 2022 contract for recurring annual maintenance and support services for the term of Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2023, at a cost of $14,155.
• Approved change orders with JBM Mechanical Inc. of Nazareth to remove a lost day charge at a cost of $5,056.48; and add cutting and capping of three existing water services for the 76 Susquehanna St. building at a cost of $21,271.56.
• Adopted a proclamation recognizing Jan. 23-29 as School Choice Week in Carbon County.

• Hires as recommended by department supervisors: Mary M. Connors of Hazle Township, full-time assistant public defender, effective Feb. 7; Robert J. Halenar of Summit Hill, part-time maintenance, effective Jan. 24; and Mark J. Nordyke Jr. of Kunkletown, county caseworker II, Children and Youth, effective Jan. 31.
Prison board appointments: Patrick W. Beers of Jim Thorpe, Derick M. Saullo of McAdoo and Jasmine M. Melendez of Nesquehoning, corrections officer, effective Jan. 24; and Samantha Corsentino of Lehighton, part-time corrections officer, effective Jan. 24.
• Changes of status: Harley K. Gessat of Summit Hill, from sergeant to assistant deputy warden; and Daniel D. Rimbey of Lehighton, from corrections officer to assistant deputy warden, both effective Jan. 24.
