Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person in the sanctuary or Leah’s Room or in the parking lot by turning radio station to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise service.

January’s Mission of the Month is Child Evangelism Fellowship of Carbon-Lehigh counties. The mission is devoted to reaching children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The ABC Food Pantry is accepting food and monetary donations to help the community and members in need of food.

Micah’s Backpack Program is also collecting donations of individual cups of nonrefrigerated applesauce, pudding, gelatin and fruit cups. Also, individual microwave popcorn and ramen noodle soup (Maruchan brand only). The expiration date must be after May 2022. This caring program helps feed the needy students of Palmerton Area School District.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold Sunday service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. You can also remain in your vehicle and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 FM or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after it has concluded. Supply Pastor, Don Quayle, will lead the service.

The JUCC Quilt & Crafts group will meet on Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church basement. They have a variety of crafts from quilting to cross stitch to bag making. Crafters are welcome to join the group or just stop by to visit. The group meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, is now holding Sunday worship at 9 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth Melber Jr. leads the service. Come and join in worship.

In case of bad weather, worshippers will be able to find out if services have been canceled through either email (make sure the office has your email address), Facebook, the church website or Channels 13 and 69 on your TV.

Palmerton food pantry

The CACPAC sponsored Palmerton food pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, on Jan. 28 from 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and you need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income.

This is a drive-thru event, so please remain in your vehicle and follow instructions given to you by volunteers. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, paper supplies, and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. A box is on the porch for donations. Local churches also collect on a regular basis.

Collect cans

The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, Little Gap Road, Palmerton, has a trailer at the company grounds to collect aluminum cans and crushed cans.

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, also collects cans. They have a shed in their church grove. There are two slots: one is for crushed cans and one is for uncrushed cans. Donations are appreciated.

Lions Club bingo

Palmerton Lions Club sponsors cash bingo on Tuesday evenings at the Towamensing Fire Company, Route 209, Trachsville. Doors open at 4 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. The kitchen will be open. For information, please call 610-657-4903.

Spaghetti dinner

A spaghetti dinner and bake sale will be held Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Parryville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2, 359 Main St., Parryville. Dine in and take out available. Meal includes spaghetti, salad and roll. Meatballs may be added at higher price. For call ahead orders please call Suz at 484-347-3928.

Midweek kids ministry

Bethany Wesleyan Church, 457 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, will begin midweek activities on Jan. 26 for ages 3-fifth grade. Come join together from 6:30-7:45 p.m. for a Bible lesson, games, and much more each week for children to participate in. Check Facebook for weekly updates.
