Palmerton’s boys and girls basketball teams both recorded wins on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, the Lehighton and Northwestern girls’ basketball teams also came away with victories, while Panther Valley won in boys’ basketball action.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Palmerton-Palisades

Palmerton answered a big first quarter from Palisades on its way to a 66-58 Colonial League victory over the Pirates.

The Pirates opened with a 20-point first quarter, but it didn’t take the Bombers (11-4, 8-4) long to turn things around in their favor, outscoring Palisades 26-12 in the second period.

Matt Machalik sparked the Bombers’ attack with a game-high 31-point performance, while Chase Reph added 13 points.

Liam Carey led the Pirates (3-11 overall; 3-7 CL) with 18 points, while Riley Sessinger and Kia Stiansen added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Panther Valley posted a 51-35 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.

Stephen Hood posted 13 of his game-high 15 points in the second half for the Panthers (6-5, 3-4), while Drew Kokinda netted eight of his 13 points in the first half.

Mason Costenbader finished with 12 points for the Indians (3-12, 0-7), while Jack Lorenz chipped in with 11.

Four players scored in double figures as Pottsville remained unbeaten in Schuylkill League action with a 70-58 win over Tamaqua.

Jazce Carabello-Snowell led the Tide (7-4, 7-0) with a game-high 21 points, while Mike Sukeena followed with 16 points. Raeff Dicello and Darren Yost added 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Connor Dillon led the Blue Raiders (5-8, 3-4) with an 18-point performance, while Steven Hoffman added 12 and Nathan Gregoire finished with 11.

Zane Zulkowski scored a game-high 23 points to lead North Schuylkill to a 59-43 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

The Spartans, who jumped out to a 22-7 first-quarter advantage, also received 19 from Jack Keiter.

Kaiden Herron led the Olympians (7-6; 3-4) with 13 points, while Colby McHugh added 12.

A big third quarter lifted Moravian Academy to a 55-41 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

After holding a 24-23 lead at halftime, the Bulldogs couldn’t hold off the Lions (3-9, 2-7), as they opened the second half with a 22-point period to take a 45-35 lead into the final frame.

Christopher Ray posted seven of his 14 points in the third for the Lions’ (2-12 overall; 1-9 CL), while Gabe Borsuk scored seven of his 12 points in the same stanza. Alohi Patel led all scorers with 20 points.

Nick Frame helped the Bulldogs (2-12 overall; 1-9 CL) take a lead into half, as he posted 10 of his team high 17 points in the second quarter. Bryce LoPinto contributed eight points.

Brendan Boyle sparked the Crusaders’ (11-3, 9-0) with a game-high 19 points, while Lucas Altmire followed with 18 and Sean Howlett chipped in with 10.

Cade Christopher posted 13 points for the Tigers (6-6, 6-4).

Lehighton-Panther Valley

Haley Miller’s 20-point performance sparked Lehighton to a 56-21 Schuylkill League win over Panther Valley.

Miller posted 10 of her game-high 20 points in the Indians’ (5-6, 2-5) second quarter, as the Indians took a 34-6 lead into halftime. Emma Repsher and Aaliyah Fisher both finished with nine points.

Maddison Maynard paced the Panthers (1-10, 0-7) with a team-high nine points.

Northern Lehigh’s fourth-quarter rally fell short, as Moravian Academy escaped with a 43-42 Colonial League win.

After trailing 38-30 entering the final period, the Bulldogs outscored the Lions 12-5, but Moravian held on for the victory.

Emma Niebell led the Bulldogs’ (5-6, 4-6) rally by scoring eight of her game-high 19 points in the final eight minutes, while Katelynn Barthold chipped in with four of her 14 points in the fourth.

Sofia Ettle led the Lions (7-5, 5-5) with a team-high 15 points, while Gianna Tout-Puissant chipped in with 12 points.

Northwestern came out on top with a 48-44 Colonial League victory over Notre Dame Green Pond.

Maci Fisher hit double figures for the first time this season, and her team-high 12 points came at a key time to help lift the Tigers to an all-important win in league play. Cara Thomas followed with 11 points, while Brook Balliet added eight.

Raegan Cooper led all scorers with 18 points for the Crusaders.

Northwestern pushes its winning streak to eight games as it moves to 13-3 overall (11-1 CL), while Notre Dame falls to 6-5 (5-4).

Palmerton rolled to a commanding 59-28 Colonial League win over Palisades on Senior Night.

Senior Brianna Moore finished with a game-high 19 points for the Bombers (13-0, 12-0), while junior Bethie Morgan added 13 points.

Raegan Nemeth, who is also having a fine senior season, just missed out on double digits with nine points. However, Nemeth did it by doing what she does best, as she drained three three-pointers on the night.

Chesney Mosher finished with seven points for the Pirates (2-9, 1-9).

The Spartans edged the Blue Raiders for a 97-85 win on the girls’ side, while Tamaqua swam away with a 89-23 victory on the boys’ side.

Jathan Krall (200, 500 Free), Jack Tharp (100IM, 100 Fly) and Stephen Behun (100 Free, 100 Breast) all had multiple event wins in the boys’ competition for the Blue Raiders.

Maura Walker (200 Free), Rylee Wenzel (50 Free), Lexi Buchala (100 Fly) and Gabby Blasko (500 Free) all scored victories in the girls’ meet for Tamaqua.
