State police report on Monroe County crashes

Area state police reported on recent crashes throughout the area:

• State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a two-vehicle crash at 10:07 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Weir Lake Road and Cherry Hill Lane, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Teah G. Cardoza, 18, of Saylorsburg, driving a 2020 BMW, was turning onto Weir Lake Road from Cherry Hill Lane, after stopping at a posted stop sign. She failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled in front of a 2014 Honda driven by Ymaani Z. Cohen, 23, of Effort, who was on Weir Lake Road. The front of the Honda struck the driver’s side of the BMW.

Cohen, Cardoza and her passengers Kaylee W. Sanchez, 19, of Blakeslee, and Aurora A. Cruci, 19, of Effort, were all evaluated at the scene by EMS unit personnel. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed.

Cadoza was cited for a stop sign violation.

• State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 1:25 p.m. on Jan. 7 along Kunkletown Road in Eldred Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Irene L. Marsdale, 58, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy on the icy roadway when she lost control. The vehicle went onto the berm and impacted with a utility pole where it came to rest. Marsdale was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed.
