The Pleasant Valley School Board voted down the promotion of one of their custodians at the elementary school to head custodian during their meeting Thursday night. In a 1-8 vote, all but school board President Susan Kresge voted no on promoting James Serfass to head custodian. The position would have paid $29.43 per hour.

No reason was given as to why the promotion was voted down.

The remaining items in the human resources report were approved. These were:

• Retirements: Sharon Rogerson, paraprofessional at PVIS; Joan Toolan, paraprofessional at PVHS; and Dawn Wisser, learning support teacher at PVES.

• Resignations: Elyse Lubell, school psychologist at PVIS; Valerie Kaye, paraprofessional and substitute at PVHS; Randi Slamiak, monitor at PVHS; Christine Konstantopoulos, softball varsity scorebook/scorekeeper; and Dana West, boys lacrosse varsity assistant.

• Hiring of support staff: Dawn Cottee, food service employee, PVES, $12.20 per hour, replaces Shondell Alphonso; JoAnn Doerbecker, heath room technician, PVHS, $29,760 (prorated), replaces Roxann Nicholas; and Christina Gutierrez, food service employee, PVMS, $12.20 per hour, replaces Laura Duncan.

• Hiring of support staff substitutes: Christopher Curtis, substitute custodian, $10.38 per hour.

• Hiring of long-term substitute professional staff: Melissa Roberti, LTS part-time librarian, PVES, replaces Amanda Altemose due to a change of assignment. $45,067 (prorated).

• Change to current assignment: Amanda Altemose, ESOL and librarian at PVMS/PVES to ESOL/ELA at PVMS; Christopher Becker, instructional support teacher moved from PVES to PVIS, replace Renee Schuler; Danielle Staples, learning support teacher moved from PVHS to PVES.

• Addition to current assignment: Tina Radcliffe, substitute food service employee, $10.14 per hour.

• Supplemental contracts: athletic - girls soccer: Jim Shoopack and Kaitlin Freeman, junior high assistants; softball: Jeremy Goff, junior high assistant; track and field: Drew Davis and Chris Curtis, varsity assistants; baseball: Joe Anderton, varsity assistant, and Chris Endres, junior high assistant.

• Supplemental contracts: athletic noncoaching - baseball: Bron Leupold, varsity scorebook/scorekeeper; boys basketball: Kris Meckes, JV scorebook/scorekeeper; boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse: Holli Capricuso Register, varsity and JV scoreboard operator; track and field: Holli Capricuso Register, varsity and junior high judge, and Dana West, varsity timer; and Patrick Luchowski, substitute event worker.

• Supplemental contracts: nonathletic - Mark Van Auken, PVHS Pep Band adviser

• Intramural advisers (stipend of $1,240): weightlifting/football, Blake Saeger, PVHS, Dan Frable, volunteer.

• Student teaching opportunities: the school district signed an affiliation agreement with Mansfield University of Pennsylvania to provide student teaching opportunities to their students.
