State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating the following incidents.
•Troopers are investigating multiple thefts of kitchen oil from various businesses in the Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, area. The thefts occurred on or about July 2021 to present day, troopers said.
Businesses who were victims of the thefts included Buffalo Biodiesel Inc., based in Tonawanda, New York, West End Diner, Mike’s Pizza, Wing Hwa, Bono Pizza and Crystal’s, all of Brodheadsville.
• On Dec. 27 at 8:51 a.m. troopers responded to Brittany Drive, Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, for a report of a stolen check. A 75-year-old woman from Fredericksburg, Virginia, said a check made out to her husband had been stolen from the mail. It was later altered from $125 to $480.50 and cashed.
• On Jan. 5 at 10:17 a.m. troopers responded to the 500 block of Smith Hill Road in Jackson Township, Monroe County, for a report of a theft. A 60-year-old man from Stroudsburg, reported that someone stole a check from his mailbox. The total amount of the theft was $5,156.13.
•On Jan. 10 Kost Tire & Auto Service, Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, reported a catalytic converter was removed from a 2007 Honda Element while parked in front of the business. The theft occurred sometime between Jan. 8 at 4 p.m. and Jan. 10 at 8 a.m.
