Schuylkill office looks to save on services

The Schuylkill County Recorder of Deeds Office could be saving $1,000 a month by switching to a monthly cost for services.

Last week, commissioners voted for a $5,585 per month five-year contract with Avenu Enterprise Solutions LLC for technology products and services to the office. Previously, the office was charged a per-document fee by the company that varied monthly depending on the number of documents recorded per month.

Last month, the office had 1,853 documents processed, First Deputy Marcie Schultz said. An amount paid was not provided. Schultz said it is estimated savings could account for $1,000 to $2,000, a month, something Commissioners’ Chairman Barron “Boots” Hetherington confirmed. Recorder of Deeds Ann Dudish was not available for comment.
