January 14, 1955 - Palmerton uses a balanced scoring attack to gain a 66-47 Lehigh Valley League victory over rival Slatington. Bob Mlkvy tallies a game-high 19 points for the Blue Bombers, who break an early tie and eventually gain a 31-17 halftime advantage. At the break, a fire is discovered in the area leading to the locker rooms. Faculty members and a police officer quickly extinguish the fire before Palmerton returns in the second half and pulls away for the win. Fred Reinhard collects 16 points for Palmerton, coached by Win Evans, while Jim Oravec contributes 12 points. Les Sweitzer also chips in with eight. Slatington’s Merrill Eckhart scores a team-high 17 points.
