The Northwestern, Palmerton and Jim Thorpe girls’ basketball teams all recorded wins on Wednesday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wilson-Northwestern

Northwestern pushed its winning streak to five games behind a 51-37 Colonial League victory over Wilson.

The Tigers (10-3, 9-1) have won six out of their last seven contests thanks to getting off on the right foot in each game, and outscored the Warriors 14-8 in the opening quarter in their latest win. Paige Sevrain paced the Tigers with a team-high 14 points, while Cara Thomas followed with double digits with 13 points. Brook Balliet just missed double figures with nine points.

Brielle Reidinger recorded a game-high 15 points for the Warriors (9-4, 6-3), while Keyearah Volious added a dozen.

Notre Dame GP-Palmerton

A 16-point fourth quarter helped Palmerton pull away with a 48-36 Colonial League victory over Notre Dame of Green Pond.

Brianna Moore sparked the Bombers’ (11-0, 10-0) attack with a 24-point performance, while Bethie Morgan chipped in with 1.

Anna Micklos was the lone Crusader (5-5, 4-3) in double figures with 11 points, while Emma Zambo recorded eight.

Panther Valley-Jim Thorpe

Four different players scored in double figures as Jim Thorpe rolled to a 70-27 Schuylkill League win over Panther Valley.

Leila Hurley led a fearsome Olympians’ (9-0, 5-0) foursome with a team-high 18 points, while Skyler Searfoss and Olivia Smelas both finished with 13 points on the night. Leah Snisky reached double digits with 10 points.

Maddison Maynard led all scorers with a 25-point performance for the Panthers (1-7, 0-5).

Blue Mountain-Lehighton

Blue Mountain knocked off Lehighton for a 36-27 Schuylkill League win.

The Indians (4-4 overall; 3-3 SL) were outscored 12-4 after a quarter of play, but trailed only by two at half, as the Blue Eagles (9-3; 3-2) only scored a single bucket in the second.

Blue Mountain’s Lindsay Kutz led all scorers with 16 points.

Charli McHugh was the lone Indian to hit double digits, as she finished with 10 points. Hailey Miller added eight points.

Bangor-Northern Lehigh

Northern Lehigh’s late-game surge fell short, as Bangor made the most of its foul shots in the end to pull away with a 47-38 Colonial League victory.

The Bulldogs battled, trailing by three points heading into the final period. However, the Slaters were 10-for-14 from the free-throw line in the last stanza.

Emma Niebell netted a Bulldogs’ (4-5, 3-5) best with 21 points, while Cadence Peters added eight points.

The Slaters’ (8-2, 8-2) McCormick Karwer led all scorers with 22 points.

Northern Lehigh-Bangor

Bangor rolled past Northern Lehigh for a 64-32 Colonial League win.

A 31-point second quarter put the Slaters over the top, as Josh Giaquinto sparked the hosts with eight of his game-high 19 points in that stanza.

Brayden Strohe followed with 15 points for the Slaters (5-7, 5-4), while Ashton Kluska added 12.

Isaiah Ramos was the lone Bulldog (2-10, 1-7) to net double figures with 16 points.

Nathan Gregoire led the Blue Raiders (5-6) with a 17-point performance, while Connor Dillon chipped in with 13.

Notre Dame of Green Pond caught fire from beyond the arc for a total of 16 three-pointers, which helped the hosts run away with a 92-39 Colonial League win over Palmerton.

Brendan Boyle sparked the Crusaders (9-3, 7-0) with five three pointers on his way to a game-high 30 points. Zach Rodgers added five more treys in a 17-point effort.

The Bombers’ (9-4, 6-4) Chase Reph hit two threes and finished with 14 points.

Panther Valley-Nativity

Panther Valley edged Nativity in overtime for a 58-57 win.

Connor Penberth sparked the Panthers with a game-high 21 points. Penberth hit five three-pointers in the fourth quarter. Logan Fisher and Danny Wehr added 16 and 10 points, respectively.

Andrew Werehick finished with 17 points for Nativity, while Ben Kreitzer posted double digits with 10 points.

7TH Grade

Pine Grove-Panther Valley

Pine Grove recorded a 40-27 victory over Panther Valley.

Koerber led the Panthers with 10 points, while Lazar and Revell added eight and seven points, respectively.

The Cardinals’ Schenek-Haines finished with a game-high 24 points, while Struphar chipped in with eight.

8TH Grade

Pine Grove-Panther Valley

Pine Grove escaped with a 38-33 win over Panther Valley.

Breiner paced the Panthers with nine points, while Wehr and Lazar contributed eight and seven points, respectively.

The Cardinals’ Hannevic led all scorers with 12 points, while Barry reached double figures with 10.

8TH Grade

Pine Grove-Panther Valley

Pine Grove came out on top with a 25-14 victory over Panther Valley.

Callie Kosciolek and Caroline Breslin both led the Panthers with four points apiece.

The Cardinals’ Aungst was the lone player in double figures, as she finished with 10 points.

7TH Grade

Pine Grove-Panther Valley

Pine Grove rolled to a 27-7 win over Panther Valley.

Callie Kosciolek led the Panthers with three points, while Ajete Gjoca and Peyton Drake both finished with two apiece.

The Cardinals’ Pompei netted a game-high 10 points, while Grimes recorded six.
