Jim Thorpe man facing sexual assault charges

A Jim Thorpe man has been jailed after being charged with sexually assaulting a then 11-year-old boy over 10 years ago.

State police at Lehighton charged Patrick Gremling, 54, with indecent assault and corruption of a minors. He was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Homanko, of Weatherly, and committed to the county prison unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail.

Troopers said on Jan. 7 the victim, now 21, from Northampton, reported that he had been inappropriately touched by Gremling, who is a relative, 10 years earlier, when he was 11. The victim said the act occurred in November 2011 at the Woods Campground located at 3500 Forest Drive, Towamensing Township. Gremling would have been 44 at the time.
