A Schuylkill County driver was seriously injured, and is facing charges, in a crash on Jan. 6 at 1:45 a.m. along Route 901 in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Joshua Smith, 41, of Schuylkill Haven was driving a 2007 Mazda 6 southbound when the vehicle left the road and struck an embankment. Troopers said Smith fled the scene but was later located by a EMS unit. He was then flown by medical helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, with nonlife threatening injuries.

Troopers said Smith was charged with driving under the influence.
