Trial date planned for Tamaqua man

A trial date has been set for the Tamaqua man charged in a Missouri killing.

Court documents show Josue Martinez has a trial scheduled for July 11-14 in Pulaski County after a change of venue was sought.

A pretrial conference is set for 1 p.m. May 16 in Phelps County.

Martinez and Kimberly Riston of Banning, California, are charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, robbery and tampering with a motor vehicle for the April 21 slaying of Donald Wethy, 36, of St. James.

Martinez allegedly stabbed Wethy and left his body in the parking lot of the Economy Inn.

Both remain in Phelps County Jail.

A pretrial conference was set for Dec. 21 in Phelps County for Riston. A trial is scheduled for Jan. 24 to 28.
