Eldred Township gains a supervisor and loses one in the same day.
Newly elected to the position, Blaine Silfies was sworn in as supervisor during the reorganization meeting on Monday evening. He replaces JoAnn Bush, who did not run for re-election.
A new seat opened when Supervisor Donna Mikol announced her resignation at the meeting. It was accepted with regret.
The township secretary Ann Velopolcek said Mikol decided to leave the position because she was recently promoted at her job and could no longer fulfill her duties as a supervisor.
Anyone interested in completing Mikol’s term as supervisor should contact Velopolcek at the township office at 610-381-4252 for more information.
Velopolcek said that once the supervisors have reviewed the resumes of those who are interested in the position, then they will select one and appoint that person to the seat.
“They have 30 days to fill the position,” she said.
In other business during the reorganization meeting, Gary Hoffman will remain the chairman of the supervisors, and the members of the parks commission were reappointed.
