Carbon County officials to be sworn in

Carbon County will welcome new and reelected officials during the annual swearing-in ceremony on Monday.

Greg Armstrong, court administrator, announced that the annual oath of office ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. in courtroom number 1.

The event is to provide any new and reelected county office holders, as well as those who work in those offices with taking the oath. This includes Kevin Zelienka, who will be sworn in for his first term as county treasurer; as well as reelected officials Tyra Boni, clerk of courts; and Jean Papay, register of wills and clerk of orphans court.

The oaths will be overseen by the Carbon County judges.

In addition, Judge Steven R. Serfass will swear in President Judge Roger Nanovic and Judge Joseph Matika to another term after they were retained during the November election.

Any municipal officials who wish to also be sworn in during the ceremony can also do so.

Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein said masks are strongly encouraged at the event.
