2021 year in review: Man fatally stabbed in April road rage case

An apparent road rage stabbing in Schuylkill County on Route 61 in April left a man dead.

Tamiir Ion Whitted, 30, of Pottsville, is charged with killing George Marcincin of Orwigsburg April 12 on Route 61 South in West Brunswick Township.

He faces first and third degree murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, resisting arrest/other law enforcement, possessing an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person. He remains in prison without bail.

District Attorney Michael O’Pake said Tuesday there is no new information on the case. Online records show he has been awaiting a pretrial conference since September.

Testimony from an autopsy report detailed 19 stab wounds at the preliminary hearing in June.

A witnesses testified blood was everywhere. She saw Whitted stab Marcincin, who died at the scene.

Blood was inside Whitted’s car, along with a 6½-inch-long knife with blood, police testified.

Police chased Whitted, with speeds reaching 105 mph, apprehending him and using a Taser to gain compliance.

David Neener, Whitted’s attorney, said previously said Marcincin uttered racial slurs to the defendant.
