State police at Fern Ridge report on crashes

State police at Fern Ridge report on the following crashes:

• Three vehicles were damaged in a chain-like mishap that happened at 1:36 p.m. Dec. 22 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. No one was injured.

Police said it happened when a 1997 Buick LeSabre driven by Loretta A. Serfass, 86, of Saylorsburg, struck the rear of a 2013 Ford Fusion operated by Kevin O’Donnell, 44, of Palmerton, pushing the Fusion into a 2016 Ford Transit operated by Allen P. Kistler, 70, of Palmerton. The latter two vehicles were stopped in traffic when the mishap occurred.

Police said the LeSabre sustained moderate damages while the other two vehicles received minor damages. All three vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

• A 2014 Ford Fiesta needed to be towed from the scene of a one-vehicle crash that happened at 1:02 a.m. Dec. 22 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said Jordan C. Bankes, 29, of Nescopeck, was operating the vehicle eastbound when it slid on ice, went off the roadway and struck a tree on the left shoulder of the road. She was uninjured.

Police said Bankes was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Keith B. Hansen, 51, of Effort, escaped injuries in a motor vehicle incident at 12:10 a.m. Dec. 22 on Merwinsburg Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2021 Subaru Outback north and was rounding a right turn in the road when it struck a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country minivan that was parked on the shoulder of the road due to it being disabled.

Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Hansen was cited for a maximum speed limit violation, police said.

• Justin Carl, 21, of Albrightsville, was cited with failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 11:19 p.m. Dec. 21 on the Merwinsburg Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country minivan north when it slid off the road and struck a tree.

Police said Carl was uninjured.

The minivan needed to be towed from the scene.
